What can the locals tell me about the Naneum area?  The DNR is doing a survey to find out who is using the area & what the users want...click on the link for the survey & details:

Back in my CWU days, I remember driving up Schnebly, Coleman & Cooke canyons and finding some good snow...here is link to the planning area map:

Sounds like they started planning in April 2012.

Done. I'd do it again too just to see the names "survey monkey" and "whiskey dick."

I can't help but wonder what you'd do, if you saw the words-"monkey dick". :w00t:

Did you know me when I had the giant "monkey nuts" sticker on the hood of my Jeep? I wish someone had a pic of that.

You still have time to take the survey for the Naneum Ridge State Forest Recreation Plan...

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5FLNP6R

Hurry, the survey closes January 4, 2013.

I received an email update from the DNR...

Quote

Hi folks,

Join the Washington State departments of Natural Resources and Fish and Wildlife in a discussion about future recreation opportunities in the Naneum Ridge to Columbia River area.
The two agencies, along with members from the recreation planning committee, will host two community meetings in April.
Community dialog and ideas from local residents and businesses will be vital to help the agencies make sound decisions as they plan how to achieve sustainable recreation opportunities for the next 10 to 15 years.

April 9. Wenatchee, 5 - 8 p.m.
   Wenatchee Convention Center
   121 N. Wenatchee Ave.
   Wenatchee, WA 98801 (Directions)
   Invite your friends

April 10. Ellensburg, 5 - 8 p.m.
Hal Holmes Community Center
209 N. Ruby St.
Ellensburg, WA 98926 (Directions)
Invite your friends

At the community meetings, we will ask to hear ideas about the following and other questions:
  • How does having access to recreation opportunities help your community's economic vitality?
  • What businesses or organizations are impacted from recreational activities in the area?
  • How can outdoor recreation impact your community?

We appreciate your interest in this important issue, and hope to see you at one of the meetings.

I just received word that this Recreation Planning topic has come back up. Keep your eyes peeled for any more information about this. We need some OHV positive people to push the DNR in to adding more motorized recreation.
