On the way to Idaho X Rocks the Finneys lost 5th gear in their 99 Dodge. The NV4500 in these trucks is a pretty good tranny with one exception. The nut holding fifth gear on the main shaft likes to work loose and fall off.

When I tore into the truck it already had the "old style" replacement kit but it had failed just like the stock one. The older kits were basically just a nut/split washer with a small set screw on it. The new kit that we installed has two set screws as well as two brass "pellets" that smash and lock into the threads when tightened. We've had great luck with these kits.

Another customer came in with a rear end under his TJ that needed a little work. The housing was straightened with help from Ritchie's Machine Shop then stuffed with new gears axles and a locker here at Build It.

This truck came in with a clunking coming from the rear end. Even froze a couple times the customer said. Turns out the center pin in the diff tried to go somewhere else.

Here is a nice old square body chevy getting the rear axle swapped out to a larger 14 bolt. Goods to go with the swap is having disc brakes in the rear and getting a line lock to accommodate the disc brakes, And a detroit locker.

There's a bit of local history with that one. Chucky must be getting ready to pull that new Arctic Fox around!

This jeep got a good run of parts. Front and rear gears, lockers, u joints, axles, rear main seal on the motor, and a new gas tank.

Always doing things to the Nitro Cherokee to make it better. Rear air bumps? No problem.

A hummer being a bummer. TLC needed. Full service, water pump and rear air bags. The old ones kinda had a leak.
