This week we are working on repairing Zips rearend :ninja:  It's a full floating 9" using 14 Bolt axles and spindles. After his crash the housing was bent and one spindle was knocked loose. The original spindles were just pressed into a tube sleeve.

First off we cut off what was left of the old spindle setup and straightened the housing. It may not look high tech, but using this shop brewed jig works the best out of everything that we've used.

Since we are repairing instead of tearing the tube sleeves out and starting fresh, we had to come up with a stronger way to mimic what the original builder had done.  We made a new bushing, pressed it on and rosette welded it to the spindle. Then machined it to the right seal diameter and to fit into the original tube sleeve. Using a thicker bushing also gave us a thicker, stronger surface to weld to when it goes into the housing.

Using the jig and alignment tool it was welded to the housing. We cut the tube back to accommodate the thicker bushing.

Brake bracket going back on the opposite side. This side wasn't damaged but we went ahead and drilled holes through the sleeve and rosette welded it also.
