Winter time is normally when I tear into my rc addiction and build a couple rigs. Well this year with the new baby on the way, my Toyota project and just life being life I haven't had the time to really work on anything. I started this project a few weeks ago still working on getting parts together but figured I would start a thread to keep track of everything. I'm going to try a few new things with this build. It will technically be a class 3 rig but I have no ambition to comp it just more of a backyard toy. So it won't have the details that some of my other rigs have.
Here's what I'm building:

Chassi will be scx10 based with the frame cut right behind where my rear links mount. I will be using 3/16 solid and 3/16 brake line to build all the tube work. Probably some 22ga aluminum for paneling. The hood will be make from styrene since no one currently manufactures a 1/10 scale samurai body for a decent price. Planning on running a wraith interior with seats. Scx10 axles with the normal ally minim upgrades, going to have an axle mounted servo instead of a chassi mounted servo for simplicity. 35t Tekin motor with a Tekin fxr speed controller and my current radio gear. Tires will be 1.7 iroks on 1.9 axial beadlocks same setup I did on Todd's mini jeep. I've ordered my frame set and the brake line. I will probably use 6/32 all thread for temp links and then have Nickb machine me some solid stainless links again.

Parts finally started arriving yesterday, my new wheels, aluminum knuckles and hubs, links, shocks, frame, tranny and Mip cv drivelines, still waiting on my seats, tires, motor and radio.

Been slowly working on this, I got my eBay transfer case, picked up a set of Rock Krawler rear links to extend the wheelbase to 12.5". Also decided to change up the body and go with a tamiya fj40 hood cowl and windshield frame. A buddy and I bought the resin to make molds of the body in order to build aluminum panels for the rig.

Pretty excited about how this is turning out. Shooting for a stance and look of this orange buggy.

Started working on the interior. I'm using a wraith floor pan and dash and building my own seats. What I'm shooting for...

My card stock template. I got some blue and black craft foam for the padding and some .008 aluminum for the
frames

I bought some cheap Chinese 112mm dual spring shocks for building it, I plan on running king shocks, 110 in the rear 100 in the front.

Saturday progress, I have an old just body in using to build the chassi off of so I don't destroy any aluminum panels. It's coming together nicely, all these pics are at ride height I do believe.

Got my rear shocks mounted today now it's officially a roller.
I get almost 5" of flex out of it with the stock scx10 shocks in the front.

Been picking back up on this the last few weeks. I didn't like how short the chassi was so I decided to chop it and add an inch. Rebuilt the grill as well.

I'm having issues when I cut the chassi up it threw some part out of square so now I'm having to redo a lot of the body to get everything squared up agian.
