I stripped every bracket off the yj frame and started fitting the tub on. It wasn't even close to what my vision was, I thought I would just do a little trimming off the front and the back of the frame to fit the tub and I would be done. I ended up cutting 2" off the front of frame and adding 2" to the back to get my wheel base where I wanted it and the frame arches to fit where I wanted them. On my Cj I built a 60 rear a few years ago. I built it 56" wide, it was really wide at the time I narrowed it. Well that's the rear going into the willys, and it was too narrow for the Yj frame. The tires barely cleared the frame rails, so I cut the cross members out and narrowed it. I cant rember how much but its less than yj but more than cj in width. I put it back together with the winch mount front cross member, a rear bumper cross member and Add to dictionary in front of the gas tank. The gas tank was rehomed from the cj, I built it genrite style, all steel, yj fuel pump, notched to clear the 60, holds about 17 gallons. At this point Ive put so much work into the frame I should have just built one. Ive set the steering box in place and mocked up the column and pedal assemble to fit my seat where I its comfortable make sure everything else before I finalize the tub stretch dimensions. There wasn't a lot of room for headers, steering shaft, hydraulic clutch, swinging pedals, front cage hoop and myfeet to all fit.
