Those axles are the original source for 35 spline stubs for a 60 front, so no surprise there. The axles that had the smaller stubs and tracta joints are older IH (big 6 lug) and older dodge.

These are out of a 1974 IH.

I was only surprised because people were saying all the closed knuckles had smaller shafts. Not just the 6 lug's.

Getting kinda worried about what this rear axle actually is lol. I was told it was a eaton m22. The only m22 I've found from eaton is either a 4 speed manual or a electrical switch.

Then I ran across a RA15 and RA20 axle. But still not much info to get a for sure I.D. I'm really looking because it'd be nice to have the peace of mined that parts are available somewhere. If anyone has an idea let me hear it. I have worked with HO72's and such, but this isn't one of those. It doesn't have a removable cover, and no load bolt on the 3rd.

Probably an IH RA20 if it is out of a 1510.

Not much difference between an RA15 and an RA20, just different wheel bearings or something if I remember right. Been a long time since I payed attention to IH stuff.

These are 4.88s. The eaton has the factory locker. Not sure how good it will work once its in use but... Its a beef of a axle from what I see.

I liked the way the truck crawled stock, and with 4.88 gears a 42 to 44 inch tire puts me at the same crawl speed.

Eager to see how this goes. I would sure appreciate a costs tally on this as you go since I have been considering a similar project in the future.

Looks good Tom. The bars coming down in the front might block your view a little from the looks if it.

Off to a good start   Keep the pic's coming. I would be cautious about fully welding as you go makes it hard to start over. But that might be a good thing.

No weld point is fully welded yet. Good thing sense Ive had to fix some spots and had some revisions along the way.

Pretty good day today. I have a lot of tubes left to go, tie everything together, and brace.

3 link front and rear. Both front and rear diffs will be offset to right side.
